College Football BCS Contenders

The 2011 college football betting season is quickly coming to an end. With only three weeks left in the regular season, there is still plenty of questions and not enough answers for fans or handicappers to choose from. A big question may be decided this weekend, as the winner of the Arkansas v LSU game is almost certainly going to face Alabama for the National Title. Here is a bookie software look at a few contenders for the BCS Title.

LSU Tigers – From start to present day, no team has performed better atop the AP 25 standings than the LSU Tigers. Headlined by the duel quarterback threat of Jared Jeffries and Jared Lee and one of the best defenses in the nation, Head Coach Les Miles has gone on record as calling this the best LSU Tigers team he has ever coached. The Tigers are currently undefeated through 11 games, and are a 12-point favorite heading into Saturday’s action against the Arkansas Razorbacks. While we do believe that they will win the game against Arkansas, we do not believe they will cover the 12 – point spread.

Alabama Crimson Tide – Despite their only loss coming to the aforementioned LSU Tigers, Alabama finds themselves back in the second overall seed in the nation, after Oklahoma State was knocked off by Iowa State last Friday.  Given that the NCAA refuses to recognize the accomplishments of the Houston Cougars, the Crimson Tide barring a loss this weekend, will have a rematch with LSU in the National Title game. For the sake of Crimson Tide fans, they are hoping that the National Title game allows the team to put on a better performance, then the defensive chess match NFL fans were treated too the last time these two teams collided.
